Happy Schools
The Hawischar happy primary and high school serves the society by providing opportunity for quality education, individual care and overall development for the students. It was started in 1998 in a small hut that provided basic education for pre-school children. Then it grew and transformed into a Primary English medium school which took special steps to provide quality education to children of Irular community and also to economically and socially backward classes. Further development occurred as the community wanted a high school in both Tamil and English medium. Now we have around 400 children in the schools.
Both the schools have well qualified and experienced teaching faculty who take special steps and care to develop students’ holistic personality. Teachers use computer and audio – visual teaching aids to impact quality education to the students in an interesting mode.
To ensure the overall holistic development of our students, apart from school activities equal importance is also given to extra-curricular activities such as Karate, yoga, art and craft, games, music and dance. The Yoga, Meditation, karate, and physical education classes are conducted to ensure the physical and mental fitness of the children. As a part of curriculum computer is taught as a subject to the students from First grade onwards. Children are given practical classes in computer in computer lab.
All significant national, religious and local festivals are celebrated in the school. Students participate in all the celebrations in the right festive spirit. Parent-Teacher meetings are conducted every term to review the activities of the schools and seek the parents’ participation and feedback about our activities. Highlights – tour, dramatics, computer education, Junior Red Cross, literary club.
The school regularly conducts spoken English classes for all the students with a specially trained teacher to improve students’ English-speaking skills. Special coaching classes for 10th grade students are conducted till 7 p.m. and also 2 months prior to their board exams. 10th grade Boys and girls stay in DSI home and have been given accommodation and food.
The school has 6 buses to provide commute for children. All the school children from the nearby villages take the school transport.
Inclusive School
Our School provides special education for special needs children who are diagnosed with autism, down syndrome and other learning disabilities and global developmental delay. We also provide occupational and speech therapy for our children to attain their milestones. Our special children are given equal opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities. A shadow teacher accompanies our special children who are attending the general education.
The curriculum for special children is specially created as an individual education plan (IEP) based on the child’s IQ level and ability.
